The 2004 Topanga ride was the probably the best yet for this event with fantastic riding from the Malibu area through the canyons north to Santa Barbara. On the way we stopped at the Rock Store (always a favorite) and had a private reservation to Guy Webster's hacienda near Ojai for a tour of his world renowned classic motorcycle collection. Big thanks to Guy for this treat. From there we stopped at The Deer Lodge for some lunch and refreshment and headed into Santa Barbara for an evening on the town at State Street. Sunday we headed out for the quaint Dutch town of Solvang nested back in the hills and visited the Solvang Motorcycle Museum, Virgil Elings outstanding collection of classic vintage motorcycles. Then a couple of more stops at Clear Creek Tavern and back to the Rock Store before saying our goodbyes until next year. Many thanks to Greg Varela and Chris Mee for the planning that went into this event and a special thank you to Ventura resident and Vmax enthusiast Pat Ahearn for helping out a couple of riders who had bike problems along the way... |
